Geek Of The Week: Lady Starlight

Geek Of The Week: Lady Starlight

The entire world knows the name Lady Gaga (born Stefani Germanotta), but significantly less know the name Lady Starlight (born Colleen Martin). Ironically, the former artist credits the latter for making her a star when the two women performed as a duo circa 2007.

Starlight was born in New York and attended fashion school there. After graduating, she moved to the city and started throwing wild parties in New York City’s lower east side. After several musical and dance ventures, her and Germanotta, then an undiscovered pop star, met in 2007 and formed a electronic music duo called Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue. With Gaga on keys and Starlight on drum machine & turntables, the two ladies delighted club audiences. Gaga actually credits Starlight for a lot of her onstage persona (including her crazy outfits).

Starlight continues to DJ, write music, dance, entertain, and create art. At 41, she shows no signs of slowing down and has completed several tours. Recently, she has collaborated with DJ/producer Anthony Child, also known as Surgeon. Starlight has also released several solo EPs. This striking lady is not only a musical genius, but a fashion icon, and an amazing performer. Now she can add GOTW to her resume.
