Scientists Discover 500 Million Year Old Sea Worm

Researchers at Yale have discovered a fossil of a prehistoric sea worm with a mouth that resembles a Venus flytrap. The tiny creature, rendering shown above, is thought to have lived about 500 Million years ago. Its diet likely consisted of microscopic sea organisms. Spines on both sides of the worm’s mouth were used to trap prey similar to carnivorous plants like the Venus flytrap.
