The Password Rules Have Changed

We all know the joys of building a complex password. Did I use a capital, what about a special character? Well, it appears those rules are about to change. Apparently the guidance to use what we consider “complex” passwords was made over a decade ago and NIST recently amended those guidelines. Through analysis, they’ve found 8 character passwords that include numbers an symbols are actually easy for a computer to guess but hard for a human to remember. The new guidance indicates passwords should be longer and made up of multiple simple words. This is a stark change for many users who have been conditioned to use short complex passwords.
