Intel Patches Major Firmware Flaw

Intel just patched a major flaw in their management engine. Essentially, the flaw allows an attacker to completely disable a system. The bug affects the following products:

  • 6th, 7th & 8th Generation Intel Core Processors
  • Intel Xeon Processor E3-1200 v5 & v6
  • Intel Xeon Processor Scalable Family
  • Intel Xeon Processor W Family
  • Intel Atom C3000 Processors
  • Apollo Lake Intel Atom Processor E3900-series
  • Apollo Lake Intel Pentium Processors
  • Celeron N- and J-series Processors

Expect to see a flurry of firmware updates in the coming days.
