Solar-Powered Aircraft Spends 26 Hours In The Air

A solar-powered aircraft, called the Solar Impulse, has completed a 26 hour test flight (an early prototype is shown above). The plane has over 12,000 solar cells, so it is able to run completely on solar energy, even at night. The plane uses no fuel and produces no emissions. This project has taken 6 years and over $90 Million, but they have now made history. Eventually, they plan to fly this aircraft around the world.
