Apple Watch Saves A Girl’s Life

Apple Watch Saves A Girl’s Life

The Apple Watch has had numerous opponents and proponents since it was released in 2015. Some claim the device is overpriced, other say it is life changing. However, for one Florida teenager, it is indeed life changing, or more accurately, life saving. Deanna Recktenwald, 18, received an Apple Watch as a Christmas present. This past Sunday, it alerted her of an unusually high resting heart rate, and her mother, a registered nurse, rushed Deanna to the Emergency Room. It turns out the teenager had an undiscovered kidney condition, which was diagnosed when the hospital saw the pattern of her heart rate. It turns out her kidneys are only functioning at 20% capacity and the teenager may need a transplant in the future.
