Another Serious CPU Flaw Surfaces

Most of us remember when Spectre and Meltdown got press earlier this year. Companies like Apple and Microsoft made statements and issued emergency patches to protect users from potential exploit. While these flaws were mostly targeted at Intel processors, another similar flaw has come to light. It is being dubbed Speculative Store Bypass (SSB), and affects CPUs built by AMD and ARM. It also affects some Intel products. Fortunately, it looks like this one can be fixed with a series of firmware updates. It will be interesting to see if this is a trend in the future though. Attacks may change to focus on hardware more than software.
