Are $99 Smartphones Returning To The Market?

In the age of $1000+ smartphones, many consumers are choosing to keep their current handset as long as possible. The average consumer feels mobile technology is too expensive but yet the demand for smartphones stays strong. However there’s been a new trend emerging, $99 Android smartphones. Samsung’s Galaxy J series is just one example. The Alcatel Dawn and Nokia 2 also fall into this price range along with several others. While none of them are flagship devices, all 3 can make calls, text, surf, run apps, play games, etc. It has many analysts asking… does the average consumer really need a $1000 smartphone? Will price win out over features?
