Smartphone Sales Decline… AGAIN

Smartphone Sales Decline… AGAIN

The smartphone market continues to decline as handset prices skyrocket past the $1000 mark. Earlier this year, analysts were theorizing that $99 smartphones may return to the market, but we haven’t seen that en masse. Earlier this month Apple reported a 12% decline in iPhone sales and that wasn’t a huge surprise to anyone.

Gartner is reporting that trend is not limited to the iPhone. The overall smartphone market is down 1.7% with larger declines in the high end handset market. Clearly people do not want to pay $1000 for a phone then replace it 2 years later. Why is this so hard for cellular providers to figure out? Consumers want cheaper phones.
