Independent Repair Shops Can Now Repair iPhones

In an big win for Right to Repair advocates, Apple has initiated an Independent Repair Provider Program. It allows independent repair shops to service out-of-warranty iPhones. It will give non-Apple entities access to genuine Apple parts, tools, training, and service manuals. Any repair shop can apply, but to qualify, they’ll need to certify all their technicians (or at least the ones who will work on the iPhones).
