Porsche Aims To Upset Tesla In Performance EV Market

Up until now, if you were in the market for a high performance electric vehicle (EV), there was only one option. The Tesla Model S has served this market since 2012. However, it looks like there’s about to be competition. Porsche has been working on the Taycan, shown above, for several years and it will hit the streets in 2020. The 4 door sedan is 100% electric and is being touted as the fastest EV available.

In comparing the top-of-the-line Taycan to the top-of-the-line Model S, reviewers found the Porsche is faster from 0-60, faster in the 1/4 mile, and handles slightly better. It will be interesting to see if they encounter the same production issues as Tesla did during the first few years. While Porsche certainly has more experience in the automobile market, Tesla has a solid head start when it come to EVs. In any case, it’s good to see competition in the performance EV market.
