EU Votes In Favor Of Common Device Chargers

EU Lawmakers held a special session yesterday where they voted to adopt a common charger for all portable devices sold in Europe. The legislation passed with a landslide 582-40 vote. The charging port standard has not yet been announced, but the new rules will go into effect this Summer. Currently they are evaluating 3 possible connectors: Micro-USB, Lightning, and USB-C (shown above L to R). Apple lobbied against the legislation but did not sway lawmakers in their decision.
