Facebook Offers To Pay For Your Voice Recordings

Facebook desperately wants to improve their speech recognition technology. In fact, they’re so serious about it, they’re willing to pay you for voice recordings. Users can earn up to $5 by simply making a voice recording and submitting it to Facebook. It sounds easy enough, but the idea has privacy advocates shaking their heads. However, this move shows merit because Facebook is allowing users to “opt in” instead of just doing it without permission. We all remember Apple’s Siri fiasco from last summer. It’s good to see large firms being up front about data gathering.
