Back in March, we reported Microsoft and Apple moved their annual developers’ conferences to online events. Needless to say, this was a response to the global coronavirus pandemic happening now. Yesterday, Microsoft has opened, or more accurately re-opened registration for BUILD. Obviously, it will be online-only this year and take place May 19-20. Due to the lack of a venue, the event is 100% free. Previous years saw attendance of around 6000, but Microsoft is expecting far more for the online version. In addition to the new format, Microsoft has changed some other aspects of BUILD. This year the keynotes will be shorter and no consumer products will be announced during the sessions. Also, they will not demo any product that is more than 6 months from release. Microsoft says these changes are based on feedback from previous years.
