Samsung Goes From Mobile Wallets To Plastic Cards

Over the past 5 years, Samsung has done a lot to beef up their position in the mobile wallet space. They acquired LoopPay back in 2015 and released Samsung Pay the same year. This week, Samsung announced a plan to issue physical debit cards to Samsung Pay users. This is a strange move, as the whole concept of a mobile wallet is an effort to move away from physical cards. However, Samsung thinks the option will be popular with some customers. I guess we’ll see. The service is going live later this year.
