Google Maps Is Adding Traffic Lights

Des Moines, IA based users of Google Maps have reported seeing traffic lights while using the app, as shown above. Reportedly, this is a new feature Google is testing in some areas. So far, the reports have come from Android users. Apple added stop lights and stop signs to their Maps app last year and everyone figured Google would soon follow suit. It appears they’re beginning to roll this out and we may see this feature make its way into all major metropolitan areas soon. It may seem odd that they started with Des Moines, but this is a newly added Google Fiber city so it’s possible they had enough data from that deployment to easily add the light locations.
