Google, Qualcomm, Nokia Invest In HMD

Finland-based HMD has secured $230,000,000 in funding from Google, Qualcomm, Nokia, and others. If you’re wondering who HMD is, you’re not alone. They are the company who bought Nokia Mobile after Microsoft failed to gain success with the Lumia phones. While HMD is not a household name, they are in a great position to deliver 5G handsets to markets outside the US. Some of the big names in the US obviously believe in their ability to deliver and thus the funding package. It will be interesting to see how HMD expands their footprint over the next few years.
