Geek Of The Week: Din Djarin

Disney recently revealed the trailer for Season 2 of The Mandalorian on Disney+. Some of the characters from season one, like IG-11 and Kuiil, have been featured as previous GOTWs. Today, we’ll add the star of the show, Din Djarin, shown above left. When he was a child, Djarin’s parents were killed by Separatist battle droids. He was then adopted by a group of Mandalorians. These adopted children were known as foundlings. Djarin grew up as a Mandalorian warrior and eventually became a bounty hunter in the galaxy’s outer rim. He follows “the code” and never removes his Mandalorian helmet in front of others.

Season 1 of the show takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire and follows Djarin on mission to located and retrieve an asset wanted by former Imperials. The asset turned out to be a child of Yoda’s species. Fans have dubbed the character “Baby Yoda”. At the end of Season 1, Djarin journeyed into space in an attempt to reunite Baby Yoda with his family. Season 2 will introduce some new characters and the first trailer is now available online. Reportedly, fan favorites like Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren (both former GOTWs) may make their screen debuts in Season 2. In any case, I’m anxious to see it next month. For now, we’ll celebrate Din Djarin as the next GOTW.
