5G Handsets Account For 14% Of New Phone Sales

All the smartphone manufacturers are pushing 5G handsets. Despite the consumer view that 5G phones are too expensive, the numbers show increasing sales. The latest stats from PR Newswire show 5G handsets accounted for 14% of US smartphone sales in August. To put that in perspective, they only accounted for 3% of US sales in January of this year. Industry experts predict the upcoming iPhone 12 launch will skew these numbers and the rate could reach 20% before the end of 2020.
