Facebook Is Working On A Nextdoor Competitor

Nextdoor is a popular neighborhood-based app which allows users to communicate with others in their area. News, events, charity, requests for help, and advisories are all part of the Nextdoor ecosystem. Dubbed a hyperlocal social network, the app arrived in 2011 and has since become quite popular despite facing a lot of media backlash. Some claim the app allows racial profiling and can easily be exploited by someone with bad intentions. Now it appears Facebook is working on a competitor. They’re rolling it out to select areas as a pilot. If well-received, Facebook may make it available to all users.
