Microsoft recently filed a complaint against Office Solutions, a Florida-based firm, for illicit use of the company’s software. Microsoft intends to take the case to trail. The complaint alleges Office Solutions sold devices with activated copies of Microsoft software, such as Windows and Office, pre-installed. The problem is that Office Solutions never paid for the activation. Microsoft goes on, by using a combination of decoupled product keys, OEM tokens, and unauthorized credentials they were able to trick buyers into thinking they were getting registered copies of Microsoft products. What’s more, Office Solutions charged extra for the software to cover the activation fees.
