ARM Race: Surface Pro X vs M1 MacBook Air

It looks like the ARM architecture is the future for mobile computing. Both Apple and Microsoft are now offering flagship ARM-powered mobile devices showing a shift away from X86. Microsoft’s Surface Pro X retails for $999 as does Apple’s latest MacBook Air with the M1 chip.

Judging simply by benchmarks, the MacBook has a definite advantage. However, I recently came across this article where the author’s explores several reasons why some users may prefer the Surface. It’s not always about speed. In any case, it appears the ARM race is heating up in 2021 and we’ll likely see more manufacturers move in this direction.
