Wireless charging seems to be the way of the future for mobile devices. This allows users to carry less cables when they travel. However, the drawback with this technology is, you still need to carry a charging station (sometimes multiple charging stations) which typically takes up more room than the cables.
A recent Apple patent, shown above, indicates the company may be trying to overcome this hurdle. The patent depicts a laptop computer with a built-in charging station. In the future, a user may just be able to set their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch on the lid of the laptop and charge them that way. This is certainly a step in the right direction, but it’s clear wireless power standards need to exist before wireless charging is really going to catch on.
