CES 2021: Rollable Phones Coming in 2021

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) always shows us the coming tech trends for the year. Granted many of them never catch on, but it is certainly the place where the big tech firms showcase their latest ideas. Previous CES shows have put emphasis on items like 3D TVs, wearable devices, foldable phones, smartcars, and more. For 2021, a new trend is emerging… rollable phones.

While the industry is still struggling with foldable handsets, LG is vowing to get the first rollable smartphone into consumers’ hands this year. To disambiguate the nomenclature, the phone itself is not rollable. However the display rolls inside the enclosure to allow the screen to resize. This is very similar to the Oppo concept device we saw in November of last year. As you’d probably expect, there is no word as to the price.
