Geeky Toys You (Or I) May Want!

Here are the Top 10 Geeky Toys/Electronics you may want:

10. iPod Touch/iPod: Seriously you don’t have an iPod? I think even little kids in Ethiopia have iPods.

Price Range: $59.00 – $249.00

9. HDTV: HD televisions have been the big things the last couple of years and they are lowering to a price point where they are becoming affordable to the average American. I bought a 42inch Plasma TV for $550.00 recently. I did have $200.00 in gift certificates, but $750.00 is still a good deal!

Price Range: $200.00 – $3,000.00 (You can get a really nice TV for under $1000.00)

8.Digital SLR: I really want an SLR (Single-Lens Reflex) Camera! SLRs are basically professional-style cameras. I have an average digital camera, but I really want a Digital SLR (DSLR). One of the most popular DSLRs is the Canon EOS Rebel XS. Starting around $400, it’s fairly affordable, but I’m really hoping they’ll get closer to $200.00 soon. As with anything, you can spend as much as you want on a DSLR. High-end models approach the 5 figures mark. Ouch!

Price Range: $400.00 – $10,000.00

6. PC Laptop: They are getting to a price point where they are very affordable. You can get a PC laptop with great specs for around $500. Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t lowered their prices to something reasonable just yet, but I’m hoping its on the horizon. I’m still waiting for a laptop under $1,000 from my beloved company.

Price Range: $250.00 – $3,000.00

3. Smartphone (that isn’t an iPhone): So you don’t wanna pay the ridiculous fees that AT&T charges you? The cheapest way of getting an iPhone will probably set you back around $70 per month (and that’s with barley any minutes). While everyone wants one (I know I do) I do NOT wanna pay $130.00 a month for cell service. Luckily, there are several other smartphones on the market for people like us.

Price Range: about $100.00 – $500.00 (it depends on your contract with your provider)

Price Range: about $100.00 -$300.00 (again it depends on your contract)

1. Kindle/ Nook: I’m really not what you’d call “a reader.” I haven’t read a book in… ummm… a while. Needless to say, if I had a Kindle or Nook I’d read… maybe.

Price: $259.00

As always, do your research when buying unless you want it immediately. If you need to have it NOW, then you’re gonna pay extra for it. For instance a micro USB to PC cable is about $3.00 from online warehouses. When you go anywhere else (Office Depot, WalMart, etc), you’ll pay about $20-$25. I know this firsthand. I needed to charge my phone quickly and couldn’t wait 5-10 days, so I had to buy one locally. When it comes to HDTVs, shop, shop, and then shop some more. You’ll find deals everywhere.
