Atlantis Lands Safely: Shuttle Program Ends

The 30 year space shuttle program came to an end at 5:57 EDT this morning as Atlantis touched down at Kennedy Space Center. This is the very last time a space shuttle will land at Kennedy. The program is now officially over. Alongside Discovery and Endeavour, Atlantis is now forever in the history books.

During it’s distinguished career, Atlantis logged 125,935,769 miles and 307 days in space. Needless to say, the shuttle program was an amazing leap in space travel technology. The space shuttle is first successful reusable space vehicle. Not only that, but it is a feat of engineering. It is truly sad to see program go.
