Earlier today, six astronauts “returned” from their mission to Mars. In reality, they never left. As preparation for a mission to Mars, an international space crew (shown below) spent the last 520 days in a Russian isolation chamber. This was to simulate the six month journey to the red planet, and the trip home. They were intending to prove that humans can survive such a mission. It sounds like something out a bad Pauly Shore film, but in reality, this experiment has provided some valuable research about long space journeys. The actual mission to Mars is not expected to launch until 2030 or after.
