Sony CEO Howard Stinger recently gave an interview in which he stated Sony is working on “a new kind of TV.” He gave few details, but hinted that it is intended to compete with the AppleTV. Due to the fact that Sony’s TV sales have been at a loss over the past several quarters, this move is not surprising. In fact, some Sony shareholders have asked to spin Sony’s TV division off into its own separate company.
Can Sony tilt Apple’s crown? Time will tell. In any case, it will be interesting to see how this next generation TV shapes up for Sony.
