29 Year Old Cancer Survivor Is Headed To Space

Every once and a while, a news story just makes you feel good inside. This is one of those stories. 29 year old Hayley Arceneaux is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 10. Arceneaux had dreamed of being an astronaut before she became ill but after winning her battle with cancer, she decided the medical field was her calling. She currently works as a Physician’s Assistant at St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Almost 20 years after her diagnosis, Arceneaux is getting the opportunity of a lifetime. She will be joining billionaire Jared Issacman on the world’s first all-civilian space mission, Inspiration 4. There will be two more civilians joining them but their names have not yet been announced. The billionaire is working with St Jude’s hospital to raise $200,000,000 that will further their research. SpaceX will supply the launch vehicle and the mission is currently scheduled for October.
