What Is The Future Of Wearable Devices?

About a decade ago, wearables seemed to be the next big thing. Smartwatches and smartglasses were all the rage. However, the market for smartglasses seemed to dry up almost as quickly as it arrived. Smartwatches on the other hand, have increased steadily in popularity.

I recently came across this article where the author breaks down the future of wearables. He separates them into 3 areas: the wrist, the ear, and the eye. When it comes to wrist-worn wearable device, the Apple Watch is the frontrunner but there are many competitors. Additionally, Apple’s AirPods seem to be leading the pack when it comes to ear-worn devices. Again, it’s a crowded market. When it comes to the eyes though, it’s still a wide open field. Current technology is forcing sizes and shapes that current fashions just don’t tolerate. It will be interesting to see how this one shapes up.
