Framework Laptops Are Now Shipping

Earlier this year, we posted a story about about new hardware company called Framework and their “future-proof” laptop. The company’s mission was to build devices where every part, from ports to processors, is upgradable. Framework has become a sort of poster child for the Right to Repair movement. They started pre-orders in May and now the first units are shipping.

The first Framework reviews are hitting the Internet and feedback is mixed. The design and construction are being praised but some analysts have a problem with the future-proof part. Supportability into the future may not be as simple as slapping a future-proof nameplate on the box. Time will tell if the product will catch on.
